18th Mar 2017 Mens 2nd v Halifax 1(Home) 1 - 0 win

6 games in a row unbeaten. 5 wins and 1 draw. 4 clean sheets. 16 points from the last 18 available. The Men's 2nd team are on a roll.

Having lost 8-1 earlier in the season to second placed and promotion pushing Halifax, Rhydding knew this would be a difficult game. Halifax are quick upfront and press hard. The midfield trio of Will Bradley, Aaron Terry and Tom Burton kept possession well and distributed between the forward and defensive lines superbly.
Josh Till had a great game at centre-back, alongside Rob Westwood; they held play up well and read tackles like a book.
Continuous pressure from Rhydding created numerous chances that were ever so nearly finished. Matt Sykes and Joe Westwood had excellent games upfront and help up play until support arrived.
Man of the match Will Rutter had the game of his life in goal, he made a record 18 saves including several one on one opportunities that looked dead certain to be goals. He gave Rhydding the confidence to push extra men on when going forward and to find that pivotal goal. This came in the 64th minute when Lorimer passed to Bradley at the top of the D for Billy Hagan to bundle the ball over the line. This goal was enough for Rhydding to finish in the top half of the table with one game left against mid-table York next weekend.

Many thanks to all of our supporters this season, your support and encouragement helps massively.
