Sheffield Hallam 4 Ben Rhydding 0
A glorious day on the waterbased pitch at Abbeydale was the scene for change in fortunes of the unbeaten 5th XI . After only 10 minutes Rhydding failed to create from a 16 yard hit which resulted in a quick well taken goal. Rhydding recovered their stride a little and were able to mount a few useful attacks down the left through Noel Hutton. This was to no avail and the half ended with Rhydding trailing by the one goal.

Matt Jerram had found the pitch by half time but this was only to be the start of his afternoons woes!

The second goal was conceded shortly after the restart when a mis-scooped short corner bounced agonisingly over the outstretched leg of the Ned Kelly. Rhydding's luck worsened as a knee injury to Stuart Raw resulted in Matt Jerram being required to bolster the defence. Rhydding were under the Cosh, and some hard tackles had to be made ... some of them fairer than others. The Umpire, itching to give a card, picked out the luckless Jerram who received a yellow for what was one of the fairer challenges. The resulting short corner was switched both right and left before being sunk in to the goal, off a thick inside edge from keepers pad.

The final goal was a well worked break away from one of Rhydding's rare second half attacks. On the day Rhydding were slow to ajdust to the pitch, unlucky, and slightly outclassed.
