29th Sep 2007 *Sheffield Hallam 7th(Away) 1 - 3 loss
BLACKBURN P[Y], HART T, HUTTON N, PERFITT J, KELLY A, JORDAN J **MOTM** , BACON M, SNOOK J, DRYDEN T, HOLMES J, MORRIS S, KANDT M (1), FLOWER I[G], BROWN L,
The MOTM was James Jordan who was outstanding in defence for us!
We were playing the Sheffield Hallam 'Badgers' team and they played well and were deserved winners.
The 5ths soaked up a lot of pressure in the first half (including 6 or seven short corners) and did well to be only 2 goals down. We had a few chances, mostly through Tim Dryden on the right and James Snook, who had one reverse stick shot going into the top left hand corner, superbly saved by their keeper.
We did not help ourselves by giving the ball away too easily and taking too long to move the ball accurately to our own players, which was highlighted by the final ten minutes when we started to move the ball about more quickly and Matthew Kandt scored a good goal.
Phillip Blackburn received a yellow for talking to th umpire and new memeber Ian Flower also got a green for robust tackling.
My apologies to the 5ths for the disorganised start to the match
My late arrival meant that we were somewhat at sixes and sevens for the first 5 - 10 minutes
Also my thanks to Lee Brown (ex Bradford) who helped us out at short notice as Goalkeeper and who played outstandingly well for a guy who has not put on the kit for 15 years!
