The 5ths recorded only their second win of the campaign with a 3-1 defeat of Boston Spa 3rds - 5 places above - and BRHC deserved the 3 points as they were clearly the better side, playing faster and more accurate hockey.
The game started well for BRHC and we were well on top with more possession and territory, but we could not convert our scoring chaces in the crowded D nor in the numerous short corners. The Boston Spa 'keeper had an outstanding game and made numerous stops. As can happen, Boston Spa looked dangerous on the break and scored shortly before half time, against the run of play.
The second half followed the pattern of the first, but BRHC started to move the ball more quickly, creating more space and chances. Eventually, the equalizer came from a deflection in the D, scored by John Dowley (assist by David Eldridge). Thereafter,BRHC maintained the pressure and another John Dowley goal made it 2-1 and Joe Dowley sealed the win with a far post tap-in (from another David Eldridge assist)
The junior players were all good - Joe Dowley, Dale Lilford and James Jordan and Ian Shutt was hard-working in defence and midfield.
A good solid team performance which should lift us up from the foot of the table.
