Welcome to the meet info and reports of the now infamous Summer Runners. We go out on a Wednesday evening over the summer and run from almost anywhere around Ilkley Moor.
A different hill and pub every week, and differentiated running so anyone's welcome.
It's a very informal little club.
Only two rules: 1) No-one runs alone, 2) If you're daft enough to run fast, you run further.
NEW! PICTURES HERE
The summer running season is starting again! All welcome. Run locations listed in reverse date order

Baildon Moor : [map] |
Sorry folks, I can't make it this week - I have to work. So. I suggest you go for a potter round the moor.
If you would like to try orienteering again, then you could go and get a 6.30pm start and then run. The orienteering is at this car park on the top of the moor

Chevin : [map] |
WARNING! Apparently it's the Otley Cycle Race tonight, so Otley is a no go area - make sure you come via the top of the Chevin, not from Otley.
Meet at Janice's car park (the top one in Danefield). Probabyl the Royalty afterwards, if it has reopened. Otherwise back to the Junction.

If you go down to the woods today....
Beers in Addingham after. Jolly good effort all. Nice to see Mr Cussons out again. And other Rob too. |

Cow and Calf : [map] |
Cow and calf this week.
Will try and go to the masts/trig point/stone cross this week. Fill in another bit of the moor for you. Well. For the first time in 4 seasons of Summer Running, I was the only one out. Logie turned up, but decided that he didn't want to run with me alone - can't think why. Some of you texted me excuses. Fair enough, but as to the rest of you - you slackers. It was only a bit of rain. |

Our house... : [map] |
Can't be arsed to think today, so we're going from our house.
If you don't know where that is, then drop me a line.
A wibble along the edges of the moor. Jolly good effort, all. And some new bits of the jigsaw filled in. |

Dick Hudsons : [map] |
Back to Dick's for a potter up onto the moor. Not sure if we'll both be there this week.
Top work by everyone, really good pace up onto the top, so we did and extra bonus loop. Well done all. |

Chevin : [map] |
OK! Read carefully! Special run this week.
Navigational. Orienteering on the Chevin.
Starts from 6.30 to 7.30.
You'll need long trousers (I think - not sure if this is required - bring in case), £2 and your brain. I suggest you all go for the Orange course, unless you've navigated before, in which case you could try the sprint. They aren't long courses, so I guess we could have a bit more of a run after, or just go to the pub early! If you don't want to orienteer, I'm sure that there will be people who'd like to just run as well
info here
That was fun. I think a good time was had by all who were brave enough to try. Smiles all round. And a little bit more of a run afterwards, then down to Otley for beers in the Junction. I think we'll try that again at some point, and persuade the wusses along. |

Shipley Glen : [map] |
Back out south again. Perhaps another magical mystery tour of new paths. We'll see. A magical mystery tour it was, a different route that seemed to go down well with the attendees. |

Beamsley Beacon : [map] |
Hooray! Back to the Beamsley Beast. You all love it, you know you do. Meet at the grassy parking area in Langbar (just west off the 221 spot height on the map) This one has a hard start, but easier after that. Bring enough clothes if the weather is inclement. If it's really bad, then we'll stay low.
Beers in Bar Tat after? Windy, but well worth it. Great evening. |

Cow and Calf : [map] |
Last one at 7.15 I think. We'll see.
Cow and Calf rocks car park, not the pub. Might try a special magical mystery tour. We'll see. That was a good new route (apart from being asked to stay off the heather - update next week). Well done all. |

Narnia Woods : [map] |
We'll go for Narnia Woods tonight. Might do a slightly different route than usual. I'll make it up as I go along I think. Can you all remember how to get there? Yet again a stunning effort by everyone. Good to see Grumbly Old Knowles out and on a mission. Well done everyone. |

First run this year from the old favourite. Might rain during the day, just to make it lovely and muddy for us. See you all there. Crikey. That was a difficult run. Low mist being whipped across the moor from the NE made it very cold and hard going up tot he top. Much easier coming back down again. Good turnout, well done everyone. |

The Chevin : [map] |
Still early start time!
We're going for a reverse route so we can finish on easy paths in the failing light. Beers in the Royalty after. Cracking good running by everyone, especially our Janice. Very impressed by the effort and the quality of the running back... :) |

Shipley Glen : [map] |
OK! First of the 2009 Season! An early start this year, so and early start time for the first few.
19:15 prompt at the Glen House pub. A relatively short run, depending on daylight. :)
Good turnout. Good running by all. And a sunset. Promises to be an even better season this year. :) |

Bar T'at : [map] |
End of running season beers! No run! Just some beers in the pub. And a chance to cast your vote for Runner of the season and other random titles. And a jolly time was had by all. Runner of the Season was voted as Will Benedikz, for dedication to the cause, and improvement. |

A nice easy one for you, navigationally, as I'm not around this week. My spies have been briefed, and I will find out if you've been slacking.
Have fun. I hear you managed to run and not get lost. |

Over to the deep dark woods this week. Meet in the layby on the edge
Last one for me for a couple of weeks... HOLIDAY!
Beers in Fleece in Addingham after. Great run. Beautiful sunlight streaming over addingham moorside, a rainbow, a bull. What more could you ask for. |

The Chevin : [map] |
Weather looks like it might be damp, so we'll go and hide under the trees. Meet at Janice's car park for a good tootle round Danefield, then the Chevin. Cracking good run that. Welcome to Joel for his first time out. Welcome back to Martin, and the funny dog . |

My House Again : [map] |
Babysitter issues, so going to use my prerogative and make it from our house this week.
Will try and find a gentler starting route.... :) Only 5 out this week - holidays etc. Beautiful evening, warm. Good hard run tonight and some civilised beers and chutney back at ours. |
