6th Oct 2018 Mens 1st v Stockton(Home) 4 - 2 win

Rhydding's first home game of the season was an unpolished perfomance that resulted in victory. Neil Sugden and Dave McCollum made a solid pairing at centre-back and with Wil Jones' super vision passing balls down the line all it needed was for leads to be completed and Rhydding would have made many more connections.
With many chances in front of goal and the Stockton keeper making some superb saves it was Callum Franks who opened the scoring after superbly winning a short corner with a great dribble into the D before dispatching Musgrave's drag flick into the goal. The momentum was lost when Stockton scored an unexpected equaliser with a lack of marking in the D leaving a man spare to touch them level.
As Rhydding picked up the intensity, with some super leading from Smith and Bairstow it was rewarded with a goal after Gamble won a free hit on the 25 yard line which Sugden took quickly and Lorimer deflected into the roof of the net.
Another goal came soon after with Helme passing to Day on the Stockton goal line to make it 3-1 and then a penalty flick, calmly converted by Musgrave, made it 4-1 to Rhydding. Discipline started to drop off towards the ned of the game with a flurry of cards being dished out by the umpires but Rhydding held their nerve to win 4-2 and add another 3 points to the board.
Sheffield away next week.
