28th Sep 2019 Mens 1st v Lindum Men's 1(Home) 3 - 2 win

LINDUM - 2
BEN RHYDDING - 3

Rhydding bagged a welcome 3 points against Lindum to go mid table and whilst they were delighted to secure a win, they will reflect on how many chances went begging. Slicing through Lindum with some astonishing long balls, Rhydding found themselves through on goal several times in the first ten minutes but were unable to convert. The contest settled into gridlock with both teams playing a long game and Will Rutter was outstanding in goal for Rhydding. Lindums Matt Bell scored a remarkable goal to give them the lead and Rhydding had to rue the early opportunities they had squandered. The home team now stepped up a gear, Charlie Smiths speed in the press causing errors for Lindum and Max Helme slipping the ball to Ross McMillan who smashed in a great equaliser.
Rhyddings superior fitness began to grind Lindum down in the second half and some dynamic counter attacking drew a second goal for them; Callum Franks floating the ball through for Charlie Smith to take the most skilful of touches to pop it away and make it 2-1. Callum Franks then scored a stunning corner to make it 3-1 and victory looked certain for Rhydding. Some nave defending allowed Lindum back into the game when they scored a corner but Rhydding held on for the win.
