11th Jan 2020 Mens 1st v University of Durham Men's 2nd(Away) 1 - 2 loss

Ben Rhydding have now dropped to sixth place in the North Premier League after a double header weekend that ended with zero points.

They travelled to Durham and played against an exceptional side but really rose to the occasion. Every player having an outstanding game and producing an impressive performance. A draw would have been the right result but Rhydding having gone 1-0 up courtesy of Callum Franks were unable to hang on to the supremacy and the talented students came back with two goals to take the win.

On Sunday, Harrogate scored from a goal mouth scramble after about ten minutes and consolidated their lead with a second well taken goal after winning the ball in midfield. Rhydding clawed back to 2-1 with a goal from Charlie Smith just before half time but were unable to build on this in the second half. Harrogate scored from a predictable corner to go 3-1 up and a penalty stroke was the gift they needed to seal the game. Rhydding played some nice hockey in the dying embers of the match and scored a consolation goal via Ross McMillan but it was too little too late.
