18th Jan 2020 Mens 1st v Leeds Men's 2s(Home) 2 - 1 win

After a disappointing weekend last week, Rhydding stepped up and produced a gritty home performance to take 3 points off local rivals, Leeds in an excellent game of hockey. Rhydding scored an amazing goal in the first five minutes to take an early lead-Dave McCollum finding an inch perfect long ball to Will Musgrave who delivered a perfectly timed and weighted pass for Max Helme to slide in and deflect into the roof of the net for a dazzling goal. They continued to create many chances but did not quite finish them. Leeds got back into the game in the second half and capitalised on some good pressure, scoring the equaliser with ten minutes on the clock. It was Dave McCollum that set the bar for a fine final phase for Rhydding and not only won the corner that was to be the match winner, but also scored the goal on the final whistle to give Rhydding the win. This puts them back up into fourth position.
