Whilst Wakefield were grinning with relief at a draw, Rhydding were gutted at not having 3 points in the bag after a game where they peppered the goal.
Three clear chances went begging in as many minutes as the game opened and Rhydding had all the play. It seemed ridiculous that Rhydding went into the half time break at 0-0 but they simply could not find the way to put the goal in the net and Wakefield’s keeper made a string of impressive saves.
It was hard to bear when a reckless tackle from Rhydding led to a penalty stroke for Wakefield to give them a 1-0 lead so far against the run of play but then Will Musgrave put a beautiful ball through for George Gamble to deflect into the goal for a well deserved equaliser. Wakefield scored a stunning corner to take the lead again but on the final whistle, Rhydding got a corner and Will Musgrave fizzed it home to rescue a point for Rhydding who should have won the game convincingly.
