20th Nov 2021 Mens 1st v Chesterfield(Away) 1 - 0 win

Ben Rhydding 1
Chesterfield 0

Ben Rhydding ground out an ugly win away at Chesterfield, with just a single goal giving them victory. With Lindum dropping points drawing against York, Rhydding now sit clear at the top of the League.

Chesterfield’s fast break capability allowed Ed Snelling in goal to really show his brilliance as he delivered a masterclass in Goal keeping. Rhydding had to withstand intense pressure for most of the first half but maintained solid possession throughout, despite a slow, sticky pitch. Rhydding created many chances but could not quite finish; coming close several times and a number of corners just didn’t quite find the spot. The second half saw Rhydding passing the ball around patiently and grinding Chesterfield down. Charlie Smith scored the goal that was to win them the game and from there Rhydding took control and managed the game out to a conclusion. Superb individual performances across the squad and an impressive team delivery of both process and principles under pressure earned them a strong 3 points and the top slot in the NE Prem’.
