24th Oct 2020 Ladies 5th v Airedale 2(Home) 4 - 0 win

Following their hard fought draw against Adel last week, the 5ths were keen for a win. With the benefit of a 15 strong squad and manger/coaches Kirsty Goodbold and Leah Helme, they immediately took the game to Airedale. The combination of experienced older players and some very talented youngsters led to lovely fast and flowing hockey and they were rewarded with 3 goals in the first half. Following an inspired substitution, new member Lindsey Carey (making her debut against her previous club) was only on the pitch a matter of minutes before she touched the ball in from a superb cross to the left post. This gave Rhydding increased confidence and 2 excellent goals followed from youngsters Georgia McGowan and Keira Sykes. (also making her debut)

An inspirational half time talk from coach Kirsty encouraged the team to go back into the game determined to score more goals. The torrential rain did nothing to dampen their spirit and everyone continued to play fast, passing hockey with grit and passion. A well deserved 4th goal came towards the end of the game when Julie Hannan smashed the ball in from the right. Another "cherished" game enjoyed by all and a great win.

The 5th team would like to to thank Kirsty and Leah for their fantastic support and Mel Scott and David Elsworth for their excellent umpiring.
