10th Nov 2018 Mens 2nd v Rotherham 2(Home) 6 - 1 win

Rhydding Men's 2s continued their successful season with a solid home win over a Rotherham team who didn't capitulate as easily as their league position suggested. A superb first 15minutes saw Burton, Hagan, and McHugh put Rhydding 3-0 before the quality of play became more scrappy and Rotherham threatened to get themselves more into the game. Rotherham's breakthrough came as their second PC went through the defender on the line and bobbled home. Rhydding gathered their shape and Burton scored his second before half-time.

The second half was a closer affair with no goals in the first 20 minutes. Foster's man-of-the-match performance was well supported by Hagan's strong running, Powell's solid tackling and Ibison's defensive leadership.

As Rotherham tired and Rhydding regained their sharp passing and hard running it looked like more goals were coming. Sturgeon scored before his strong work set up Hagan who lifted the ball over the keeper.

Next week Rhydding travel over the hill to Airedale, who beat them 3-1 in a pre-season game, with their position at the top of the table at stake.
