12th Jan 2019 Mens 2nd v Airedale 1(Home) 4 - 1 win

The first 10 minutes of the game were an excellent start to the second half of the season. Rhydding were thoughtful and patient, moving the ball round and keeping possession. After that it fell apart a little and we dropped back into bad habits; running the same leads, holding onto the ball and dribbling into contact. Hagan scored the opening goal before McHugh had the last touch before the defender steered the ball home. A good attack saw Foster win a flick only for the decision to be overturned by the other umpire for a foot in the build up.

A fiery half-time talk saw Rhydding shake things up and lift their game. Flatt roamed from centre back and attacked well as MoM Ibison and Benedikz were left to mark the two forwards. Bradley had another very solid performance supporting the forwards and always looked dangerous. McHugh got a second, again thanks to the defender's deflection.

Airedale threatened to attack but were limited to slinging the ball through the midfield. Their high forward was a potential threat and he eventually scored as poor marking left men free. A second was never likely, although they forced a sharp save from one PC, and Foster's goal wrapped up the game

A good game to learn from and take forward - all the way to Driffield next week..
