21st Sep 2019 Mens 2nd v Boston Spa1(Away) 4 - 0 win

On a hot and dry afternoon Ben Rhydding found themselves on the very sandy Boston Spa pitch facing their first game back in Yorks Prem. Rhydding controlled the first half leaving Boston with few chances. Jack Sturgeon and Tommy Hagan put in controlling performances at inside-forward and were instrumental in keeping Boston inside their own half. Late in the half the Boston keeper pushed a save straight back into the path of Jack Sturgeon who couldn't miss, and didn't.

The second half didn't get any cooler and players were starting to flag on both sides. Rhydding kept up the pressure with Danny Foster and Will Bradley controlling the game in midfield whilst Kit Fantastic, Ed Murgy and Tom Zilleson were the hard-running forwards. It was Danny Foster who scored the second goal from close range to put Rhydding in control. Tom Zilleson scored a ferocious shot which the keeper had no chance of stopping. Kit Fantastic rounded off the scoring after bulldozing his way through the defence.

It was a good result for Rhydding but there is more work to be done before the ambition of challenging at the top of the division can be achieved. Special mention to Mark Horsman who make a very accomplished second team debut.
