26th Oct 2019 Mens 2nd v Leeds5(Home) 2 - 2 draw

With Ben Rhydding 2nd team scoring 13 goals in their last two games the home crowed were expecting to see some free flowing goals and another Rhydding win.
The game started slowly with Rhydding trying to dominate in midfield and upfront but Leeds were stubborn and tried to break down (with great effect) Rhydding's free flowing hockey that everyone has become accustomed too. It was Rhydding who scored first when Maddaford intercepted a poor pass from the Leeds defender to slip Hagan through to ease it pass the oncoming goal keeper.
Leeds pulled one back after some slack defending and a little bit of complacency from Rhydding with a break away goal to give goal keeper Will Benedikz no chance to bring bring the score level at half time.
After a stern talking to at half time Rhydding came out the block hard and fast with Hagan and Fantastic running the lines hard up front and Bradley, Foster and Sturgeon running midfield only for Leeds to employ some old school tactics of trying to hit the midfield three as hard as they could to slow and stop any supply to the Rhydding forwards, but it was man of the match Hagan who popped up with yet another goal after some powerful running from Fantastic and an easy slip to the oncoming Hagan to again finish with ease to put Rhydding back in front and in control of the game.
Leeds then had another break away chance only for Terry to make a heroic last ditch tackle only for the attackers stick to clip up and hit Terry in the chin leaving an inch long cut to his chin. From the resulting attacking corner Leeds managed to bundle the ball through the Rhydding defence bouncing off two sticks luckily to keep the ball on the pitch wrong footing Benedikz only for a grateful Leeds attacker to slot the ball into an empty net.
With Rhydding pressing hard and time ticking away a free hit outside the Leeds circle was about to be taken only for a Leeds midfielder to wrap his stick round Fosters throat and drag him 10 feet the umpire blew his whilst a penalty flick and a sending off was going through everyones mind only for the umpire to give a penalty corner and no card. Last chance for Rhydding the ball flew out to Bradley to fire it across the circle for the oncoming Rhydding attackers sliding in only for the Leeds defender to divert it away with his shin with the final whistle blowing straight after.

A hard faught draw which leaves Rhydding 2nd team 2nd in Yorkshire premier league and host top of the table Halifax 1s this Saturday starting at 15:00 on the new pitch.
