16th Nov 2019 Mens 2nd v Ramgarhia1(Home) 4 - 1 win

With the rivalry between the two clubs it was always likely to be an action-packed game. The first fifteen minutes was very balanced with good chances falling to both sides, however all seem to lack clinicality. The better chances were falling to Rhydding and the deadlock was finally broken by Hagan, through a well worked passage of play. However, it wasnt long before Ramgharia equalised from a third successive short-corner that was slotted perfectly between Pratt and Terry. However, it wasnt long before the Rhydding lead was restored, with a sharp break away saw Lorimer hit it into the roof of the goal, and the keeper left stranded. With little between the two sides the tension was evidently rising which led to some clumsy challenges, resulting in George Maddaford being given a yellow card for whipping out an opposition defender. The latter stages of the first half was largely in control of by Ramgharia who earned a short corner and allowed Pratt to show his talent by pulling off a diving save from a drag flick to keep the game at 2-1.
The second half was the turning point of the game. Rhydding knew that they had the fitness to out-run their opposition, and this came to effect shortly into the second half when a ball along the baseline from Tiffany into their D fell to the feet of Sturgeon, who made no mistake of slotting it home for Rhyddings third. Ramgharia lost concentration and resulted in their key player being sent off (technical not violent). With the extra man Rhydding were able to exploit further into the opposition territory, continuously creating chances, including Lorimers reverse stick shot which thumped onto the underside of the crossbar, but unfortunately the ball stayed out of the goal, preventing him with what would have been the goal of the season. Rhyddings fourth came moments later by another Hagan goal. The passion of Ramgharia was faultless with chances being created, however came with no finishing touch.
The game did not disappoint, with both teams starting off eager to beat their rivals. Some excellent skills were shown by both sides with some very well worked goals created by Rhydding and some fine finishing. This win keep Rhydding top of their league, but cant afford to lift up now as they travel to York this Saturday for a crucial match.
