29th Feb 2020 Mens 2nd v Hull University 1(Home) 3 - 4 loss

This was a bitterly disappointing result for BRHC 2s as it effectively ended their chance of winning the league and leaves them third in the race for promotion.

Hull University set up to defend deep and counter quickly and they executed their plan efficiently scoring twice in the first quarter of the game. Rhydding's efforts to break them down were thwarted by robust tackling and good goalkeeping. Eventually Rhydding were awarded a PC, which was upgraded by the umpires to a flick. Tommy Hagan stepped up to score his 18th goal of the season and give Rhydding home of a fight back.

The half-time break gave time to consider options but the game restarted badly as Hull scored a third from a deflected speculative ball into the circle. As tempers frayed cards were shown to both sides. George Maddaford scored from close range to reduce the deficit. Into the last 15mins of the game Rhydding were pushing forward for an equaliser but were caught high by another quick break. This killed the game and Rhydding never looked like recovering. Craig Tiffany's short corner after 70mins was scant consolation.

Saturday is finished and can't be recovered. However, Rhydding must learn from their mistakes and look towards their trip to Halifax. Only a win will keep the chance of promotion in their hands.
