13th Oct 2018 Mens 3rd v Harrogate 5(Home) 3 - 4 loss

Looking to bounce back from the defeat to the 4ths, Ben Rhydding 3rds looked to have ground out a hard fought victory when James Hudson's pinpoint flick from a short corner put us into the lead for the third time in the game with 5 minutes to go.
But we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as we allowed frustration with some umpiring decisions to get the better of us, losing a player to the sideline and getting distracted from the game at hand. Harrogate punished us with two late goals to steal the victory.
The first half started with Harrogate dominating possession and pinning us back in our own half and yet we took the lead against the run of play. A brilliant aerial from the middle of the park by Josh Caldwell over the top of the defence released Joe Cussons who comfortably slotted past the keeper one on one. Ironically, as we started to come into the game, we let in a sloppy equaliser and then we dominated the rest of the first half without scoring. We started where we left off in the second half, eventually being rewarded when Josh Snook smashed a short corner. But once again Harrogate fought their way back into it.
And for a third time we regained the lead, another short corner by James Hudson but once again we couldn't hold on to it.
Some great passages of play ultimately undone by the result. MOTM goes to Sam Bretherick for his robust defending on the Harrogate right.
We shall have to put it right next week.
