24th Nov 2018 Mens 3rd v Wakefield 4(Away) 1 - 1 draw

Today Ben Rhydding played a hard match against Wakefield who are top of the table. A 1:1 draw was a good outcome from such a well organised and highly skilled opposition. Unlike many matches before, we were able to keep up the intensity which allowed us to apply pressure from start to finish. This was done by the midfield working back to defend hard which, in turn, secured a draw; and having two subs helped a lot.
Andy Sutherland put Ben Rhydding into the lead midway through the first half. This goal came from a short corner won by Mark Horsman.
During the second half, we kept applying pressure when attacking and defending, however, we didnt have much possession. Tom Young had a 1 on 1 with the keeper twice but unfortunately was unable to put either of them away. Ben Rhydding gave away lots of short corners during the second half. Wakefield scored a great goal from one of these short corners but we kept our heads up and were still fierce in attack.
Josh Hughes saved many shots throughout the match but most importantly saved a 1 on 1 in the last minuet of the game. Josh Dunn also put in a brilliant tackle in the last few minutes as Wakefield pressed for the win.
Man of the match today was Chris Hughes who put in great tackles when they were needed as he was left last man in defence many times.
In all, it was an even game played fairly by both sides which resulted in a well deserved draw.
