12th Oct 2019 Mens 3rd v Lindum3(Away) 1 - 3 loss

The bags were packed, provisions purchased, and tyres checked in advance for the long trip to Lincoln. Many of the team had mislaid their passports for the trip out of Yorkshire and is was a young Ben Rhydding team that ventured over the border to Lincolnshire. It was an intense game from the start, with the ball oscillating from the Lindum D to Rhyddings and back again in quick succession for much of the match. If you wanted to practice running, this was the game to be in. The first shot on goal was for Lindum; they missed and the ball went whizzing back up the pitch for Murgy to fire it into the D looking for a deflection.:( Back up to Rhyddings D, followed by more end to end play and finally a harshly awarded short corner saw the first goal awarded to Lindum shortly before half time. 0-1.

Ben Rhydding kept the pressure on and were rewarded with a short corner soon into the second half. A straight strike to equalise for Murgy - the away crowed roared (all 3 of them!!!!) 1-1. Some lovely defending from Sam saw the start of some flowing play from Sam, to Jacob, to Mac, to Ewan and into Lindums D with Josh Normington but the Lindum defence worked hard and once again the ball travelled back down to Rhyddings D where Lindum were rewarded with a clean goal. 1-2. We were unlucky not to snatch an equaliser so much so that Logie had to lie down for a bit in the middle of the pitch. He was up again in time to witness a return to the last century as a bully-off took place before the ball moved once again the length of the pitch but this time to Rhyddings D where a short corner awarded to Lindum resulted in a final goal. FT 1-3

Some good all-round performances, lots of running and many great saves from Jacob. Thanks to our reinforcements from the M4s and our away crowd for crossing the border with us.
