15th Sep 2018 Mens 5th v Leeds Adel 5(Away) 1 - 5 loss

The fifth team are back, with a squad to make Demy a little envious, well in quantity if not quality. Our 16th player was acquired in the pub on a Friday night, welcome back Richard Brooke! Unfortunately you can only put 11 players on the pitch at any one time and whichever 11 we tried, our quality of hockey did not improve. Adel started confidently and dominated the early exchanges, Ben Rhydding failing to keep possession when they won the ball back. Ben Rhydding were soon a goal down and some fine saves by Seb Dobson kept Ben Rhydding in the game. Mac Brumfitt and Aiden Lee-Wardell both made an important contribution to the team always eager to get involved. By half time, Ben Rhydding were 3 goals down, hopefully the half time team talk might improve things. Ben Rhydding were marginally better in the second half, Matt Wood and Carl Mawson playing their first club game since taking part in the Back to Hockey sessions in the Summer settled into the team. Adel added two further goals, before Max Bradley, another from the colts section, stepped up to take his first ever Penalty Stroke to score a consolation goal for Ben Rhydding. The opening league game is away at Boston Spa, the team will need a much better performance next week.
