Ben Rhydding defence was under extreme pressure throughout the game and conceded numerous penalty corners, York scoring from the first one. Some outstanding saves from Jacob Smithson kept the score at 0-1 well into the second half and earned him Man of the Match.

In midfield the combinations of Matt Wood, Max Bradley, Petur Benedikz, Ian Shutt and George Alexander worked tirelessly to stem the tide but Roger Andre and Dave Tindall had to work off scraps up front and were unable to get into positions to trouble the York GK.
