8th Dec 2018 Mens 5th v Airedale 2(Away) 0 - 7 loss

This was a very tough match against the top of the division Airedale side. They were very fit, fast and skilful, and dominated the game.

Rhydding put up a very strong fight. In the first half Jacob made several outstanding saves, and was continuously under pressure. At the same time, when Rhydding got the ball and resisted the temptation to go for a long pass we took the game into the Airedale D and had a couple of shots on goal.

Eventually, one of the Airedale attacks was kicked off the goal line resulting in a flick, which they cleanly put away, finishing the half a 0-1.

The second half started well, with Rhydding controlling their passes better, finding space and supporting each other. The Airedale pressure built up, however, and they started to bring the whole game towards the Rhydding half, increasing the pressure. Their superior fitness and skills started to really show, and once a couple of goals went in we started to get more loose and leaky, resulting in 6 more goals to Airedale.

A very tough game indeed, but even to the end Rhydding kept trying to bring the attack back to Airedale and had a number of shots on goal. A good attempt.
