5th Oct 2019 Mens 5th v City of York 6(Home) 0 - 6 loss

Having conceded 3 goals in the first 10 minutes, maybe the 0-6 final score does look so bad......

Ben Rhydding started poorly, allowing York too much time and their first three entries into the D resulted in goals. A quick reshuffle of positions brought a bit of stability to the Ben Rhydding team. Josiah Wood made several excellent saves, Phil Blackburn also made two saves on the line with his foot, unfortunately he was not the keeper, so two PF followed!

York were 5 goals up at half time, and Ben Rhydding showed more determination and hard work to restrict the York. Jon Till was effective in an unaccustomed centre midfield role and Ben Rhydding began to pose more threat in attack, Jonathan Wood keen to bring the ball out of defence and Ronan Massey quickly showed he was ready for the step up from the Development Teams. Ben Rhydding will be disappointed not to have kept a clean sheet in the second half, conceding a goal from a short corner in the final play of the match.

Thank you to our umpires, Sam for his first umpire experience for Ben Rhydding and Andrew for coming out of umpiring retirement.
