The omens were not good when your captain arrives 5 minutes after the scheduled start time, with the game about to start.
Ben Rhydding conceded an early short corner, from which York opened the scoring. Ben Rhydding settled down, with Ian Shutt standing strong in the centre of the defence. The combination of Mark Kimber and James Snook in the centre midfield began to create some opportunities moving forwards, but the makeshift forward line of Oliver Harlen and Ed Murgatroyd struggled against the experienced York defence.

Having reached half time 2 goals down, it was imperative that Ben Rhydding scored the next goal. A bright opening to the half was rewarded with a goal from James Snook from a short corner. Game on as Ben Rhydding looked for an equaliser. It was not to come and York scored two more goals. Jacob Midgeley making his debut for the fifths found the game a little quicker than the Development league but grew into the game and made some inroads down the right.
In the final act of the game, Philip Blackburn bundled over a York player in the D to concede a PF, which was well saved by Sam Pilling and confirm him as man of the match
