15th Feb 2020 Mens 5th v Thirsk 2(Away) 1 - 3 loss

The 5ths had expected Storm Dennis to be the problem as they travelled to Thirsk for the re-arranged fixture. However the young and very fast Thirsk centre forward was the real problem, leaving Rob Jackson in his wake as he slotted home their first goal. Thirsk added a second from a penalty corner and their centre forward once again outpaced the Rhydding defence to score the third.

A poor first half by Rhydding saw them 0-3 down at halftime, time to compose themselves and identify ways of improving the game plan. It must have worked as the second half performance was much better. Thirsk's young forward line continued to create chances, Jacob Smithson making a couple of fine saves. With Jonathan Wood joining his Dad, Matt, and Jon Till in midfield, a few more opportunities were created for the forwards. The reward came in the final minute of the game from a well worked penalty corner routine, Jon Till's strike outside the post was deflected into the goal by Jon Wood.
Man of the Match was awarded to Jonathan Wood and the 5ths will hope they can reproduce the second half performance for the whole game when Thirsk travel the Ben Rhydding in two weeks time.
