8th Feb 2020 Mens 5th v Leeds AdelĀ 5(Home) 6 - 1 win

With both Adel and Ben Rhydding 5ths languishing in the bottom third of the table, this was clearly an important game for both. Adel started the brighter, Ben Rhydding gifting the ball back to Adel at the earliest opportunity. If Adel had scored when their young winger's shot hit the post (Warwick Smither claims he had it covered), the game would have been quite different. Ben Rhydding finally strung a few passes together and Sam Echevarria opened the scoring and George Alexander doubled the lead soon after.
Ben Rhydding had opted for a more attacking formation for this match, with 3 in the forward line, however forgot to us their wide men to stretch the Adel defence. Jon Till was influential in the centre of midfield ensuring the home side kept some control. A short corner strike from Dan Tilbook and Ben Rhydding had a comfortable 3-0 lead at half time.
The second half started with Adel playing the better hockey, and they were rewarded with a Penalty Flick for one of several offences in front of goal.
Two further goals from Dan and one from Richard Brook ensured a comfortable 6-1 win. Dan Tilbook bought his Jug(s) for his hat trick. There were three candidates for Man of the Match, Warwick Smither for remembering how to put the kit on after such a long time, Jon Till for his influence in midfield or Dan for his 3 goals. Based on last weeks decision, it had to be given to Dan.
Next week, re-arranged game at Thirsk, another team in the bottom third of the table........
