17th Oct 2020 Mens 5th v Thirsk 2(Away) 0 - 3 loss

The 3-0 scoreline didn't reflect what was a more even affair with both sides playing high quality hockey, but league leaders Thirsk were the more clinical side in front of goal. Rhydding failed to convert on 8 short corners and were also unlucky not to score from open play. Threlfall hit the underside of the bar and Thirsk's keeper pulled off a point-blank save to deny Tindall, while several Tilbrook strikes narrowly missed their target. Throughout the game Rhydding continued to press forward and enjoyed good spells of possession in attack. However, at times this left us vunerable to the fast breaking Thirsk attack, who would have scored more, but for some outstanding saves from Josiah Wood.

Despite the result this was Rhydding's best performance of the season by some margin. The addition of the experience of Kimber and Westwood provided greater structure in midfield and defence, allowing Threlfall and Jones to use their speed and skill to greater effect. Just need some better luck/finishing in front of goal.
