10th Nov 2018 Mens 7th v Airedale 3(Away) 1 - 1 draw

In the real world this was a 1-0 win for Rhydding.

In the sad world in which we live, Rhydding dominated the game. Our defence was solid, with newcomer adult Mark Kimber providing excellent support for the youngsters as centre back; the midfield tackled Airedale superbly and passed solidly; and our forwards threatened the solid Airedale defence time and again. Eventually our pressure resulted in a superb back stick goal from Rob Elsworth.

The Airedale midfield were particularly skilful, and several strong attacks reached the Rhydding D but they had very few shots on goal. In the dying minutes of the game Abbott tackled one of their attackers, taking the ball off him at which point the attacker kicked the ball; Abbott stood back, but there was no whistle and Airedale took advantage to score. There couldn't have been a more obvious or blatant foot fault!

So, sadly, as we keep telling the juniors we should play to the whistle, and that goes for the adults too.
