24th Nov 2018 Mens 7th v Halifax 5(Home) 5 - 0 win

Ben Rhydding Development 7s 5 : Halifax 0

The 7ths development team secured a fine victory against Halifax Development with Aidan Lee-Wardle scoring an excellent hat trick.

This was a game that saw two teams equal in standards but Rhydding still contained the majority of younger players, Jonathan Wood providing many telling crosses and an excellent build up of play saw Aidan Fraser put away one of his many crosses.

The development led 2-0 at half time but as David Abbott the team captain pointed out selfish play was beginning to creep in with a slight over confidence. Sam Browes, James Cumberland, and Caleb Dix playing his second game of the day supported by Johnnie Roughton ensured simple distribution would extend the lead which they did. Aidan Lee-Wardle concluded his hat trick and Jonathan Wood scored a well deserved goal.

Senior David Habin gave his normal terrier like performance, Tom Oates continues to find good space and almost scored at the death which would have capped a good performance. Praise goes to our young goalkeeper Daniel Byrne, who is normally making crucial saves but today saw little activity in his D; nevertheless, he remained alert and enthusiastic all through the game.

An excellent team performance. There will be tougher games ahead and next week at Bradford will be a sterner test, but rest assured; in two years time this team will benefit everyone associated with this wonderful hockey club.
