9th Mar 2019 Mens 7th v Bradford 4(Home) 1 - 4 loss

David Abbotts Development side took on a very experienced and matured Bradford Development side, this was a very tough game and the line up consisted of seniors John Hunt, Oliver Harlen Fiona Dix and skipper for the day and returning from a recent hip injury Johnnie Roughton.

It was a game where our midfield tried valiantly to put up a fight against a well drilled Bradford midfield Josiah Wood our goalkeeper made an outstanding save in the first minute pushing a certain goal bound effort around the post.

It was a question in how long the Development boys of brhc could soak up the pressure Bradford did take the lead but soon Rhydding equalised with a wonderful goal from defence through to midfield wonderful work from Mackenzie Brumfitt for the talented Oliver Laxton to put us back in the game with a an excellent goal

The second half brhc Development really fell apart the roll on roll off substionions played absolute havoc in Rhydding finding any pattern of play this is something that is the nature of the beast when players coming on and off especially at Development level the boys get wrapped up in their own world and secondly far too many players were trying to impress the Yorkshire Development coach playing for Bradford, it is something that Development players will have to adjust too in the future and positional play is the most important aspect of the game no matter how talented they are.

Up front Tom Oates and Aidan Fraser the smallest players on the field were not overawed and gave it their all despite Bradford dominating the second half with a further three goals however brhc still had some good efforts on goal.

Josiah Wood had an incredible game and his goalkeeping wa exceptional with a series of full length on the ground stick saves and quite rightly deserved from the skipper of the day the man of the match.
