21st Sep 2019 Mens 7th v Ben Rhydding 6(Home) 2 - 1 win

The two Development teams within the mens section met up with many new fresh faces taking the field for the first time. Both teams gave a good account of themselves, the 6s took the lead when Thomas Jonjo Shelvey (aka Tom Threlfall) gave them the lead, Ronan Massey certainly played his part in central midfield well supported by the industrious Phil Bishop who put in a good shift. Everyone had a good game (Dix, Oats & Threlfal stood out) and for the first 20 minutes it was hard for the 7s to get the ball out of their half.

For the 7s there are some excellent prospects. All of them combined really well, supported by seniors Richard Box, Andrew Walsh and David Abbott. Youngsters Pickles & Box show great potential for the season that lies ahead. The 7s lev elled the score before half time with a great strike from Will Jones.

Skipper Johnnie Roughtons half time team talk for the 6s fell on deaf ears when the statement was do not try and go through the Great Wall of China alias Richard Box, one of the best tacklers at this level, and this is something all the Development players need to bear in mind; suss out the key players and play around them, not through them.

The 7s scored a superb goal then the junior Box - Rowan - deflected an excellent pass straight into the net. An outstanding goal.

Overall an encouraging start for both teams.
