Ben Rhydding Development 7; 8 & 9
What a weekend for all of the Development players they experienced the joys of seeing the mens first team gain a well deserved promotion, then after the game spent some game time of their own with their first team players, thanks to Neil Sugden, Warwick, Max, Will and all of the wonderful coaching they have provided for these boys and girls a massive thank you.
Then after the the training session the developments teams got down to their round robin tournament the 7s v 8s victory for the 7s winning 3-0 then the 8s v 9s drew 2-2 the eights scoring two goals in the last two minutes the final game saw the 9s beat the 7s 2-1. So honours going to Team 9
However this report is not really about the Development Teams it is about David Abbott whom on behalf of of all the players and the wonderful parents who have supported the teams throughout the season, David thank you so very much, your commitment and dedication to the team is absolutely amazing on top of that you manage the umpiring as well, having to source up to 12 umpires every weekend is another task in itself, the satisfaction you have created along with our wonderful coaches, from seeing the players go onto first and second team level is incredible. You have continued to build upon the brainchild of Philip Blackburn whom brought the idea of Development Hockey to the Club, not only continuing to operate it as one team but then two and then this season an incredible third team which you have successfully sorted week in and week out.
So David Abbott thank you from each and every one of us and as mentioned the parents for their wonder support. Special thanks to senior adult players Craig Wilkinson, Richard Box, (& Mrs Box) Fiona Hahn, Sam Yates, Robbie Hatfield and Carl Mawson. Here’s to next season, cheers🍾🥂David
