Ben Rhydding over 40’s HA National Cup Competition
Sunday 20th February.
Ben Rhydding Mens Hockey Team cruised into the quarter final of the Hockey Association Veteran’s Cup on Sunday with a hard-fought 3-2 victory away against their old rivals Kingston upon Hull.
With a good turnout from all and in a sometimes tense affair, goals from Ian Cussons (2) and Neil Horsman proved decisive. Rhydding were indebted to defensive maestro Andy Locke and all-action midfielder Peter Langley for this latest triumph. Man of the Match Locke made a series of last ditch tackles in as good a defensive display as you could wish to see. With the team holding their nerve and working hard right up to the final whistle, a well deserved place in the Quarter Finals was theirs.
Both Ben Rhydding’s men and women Vets are now in the last eight of this national competition which when added to the continued success of the club’s juniors, confirms the clubs leading position in the North of England.
