Previous Fixture(s): 19th Mar 2023 Ladies Vets v Cheshire Over 55(Away) 1 - 2 loss 19th Feb 2023 Ladies Vets v Driffield(Home) 5 - 0 win We welcomed Ali Taylor(Skipton) and Sue Matthews (Doncaster) as ‘guests’, new club members Lynn Harkins and Julie Findon and newbie to the o55s age bracket Jo Skirrow to our 16 strong squad to play Driffield last Sunday. Playing a ‘new to us’ system, as explained by manager Andy Musgrave, we started strongly with lots of energy - supporting each other and pressuring Driffield whenever we could. Our reward was a well taken goal by Linda B. This settled the nerves and we were able to build again leading to another goal before half time - neatly stroked in by Hils M. As we started to tire in the second half, Driffield came at us strongly, however, some slick passing led to another field goal guided in at the post by Hils M giving us a much needed cushion at 3-0. Driffield still worked hard and secured a penalty stroke but this was saved by Anne R to maintain the clean sheet. The last 10 minutes saw Ben Rhydding continue to press leading to a super strike from a short corner by Linda B. Then, with the final whistle blown and penalty corner awarded, a great, well worked goal from Julie Bod - which actually looked like we’d practiced it. Great fun and result 5 - 0.
