Ben Rhydding Men 1 - Leeds 3
This was a tough start for the Men against a good Leeds team. Both teams battled against the extreme elements as the rain lashed down throughout the 70 minutes.
A strong start from Ben Rhydding saw the Leeds keeper save a good chance for Will Musgrave before Neil Sugden put Rhydding on the scoreboard with a well taken goal at a short corner at the end of the first quarter.
Leeds hit back quickly to level the score in the second quarter and continued to offer a threat on the counter attack. Despite excellent first half saves from goalkeeper Ed Snelling. Leeds were ruthless in attack, converting two sharp counter attacks in the second half just as Rhydding looked to push their way back into the game.
New Men's Coach, Max Helme, was pleased with the performance of the team against a very strong opposition, disappointed with the result but confident of the squad's ability to achieve better resuts through the season.
