Club History

Ben Rhydding Hockey Club was formed in 1901 and soon established its home ground at Coutances Way where it has remained to this day. Over the past 30 years the club has become one of the largest in Yorkshire with 7 mens and 5 womens teams playing every Saturday.

Hockey as a sport has rocketed in popularity over the past 30 years with Great Britain winning a Bronze medal and subsequently a Gold medal in the Los Angeles and Seoul Olympics respectively. Greater Newspaper, Radio and Television coverage has ensured that the sport continues to thrive. With more and more schools adding hockey to their sporting curriculum and Clubs inundated with children wanting to play, the game is guaranteed a healthy future.
